You May Want to Sell Your Car to the Auto Salvage Yard

If you have a car that's no longer in a drivable condition anymore, then there's no use for you to keep it on your property. There it will only be taking up space and being an eyesore. Selling a car that's in bad shape is usually not worth it and can take a long time. In some cases, you may try repeatedly to sell it, only to find there are no willing buyers. It's much easier for you to sell the car to an auto salvage yard. If you do decide to go this route, then you will find this information to be helpful.

Gather the appropriate paperwork

When you are going to be selling your car to an auto salvage yard, you want to make sure you have the necessary paperwork to give them. This would be the title for the car. The reason you want to make sure you have the title is that many people end up not being able to find it when the time comes to sell their car, and it can hold things up. Knowing you need it beforehand gives you the time needed to get a replacement title from the department of motor vehicles in your area. Since you are selling the car to a salvage yard, you won't need to worry about anything like registration, proof of passing a smog check, or anything else like this that may be required in your state when selling a vehicle that's intended to be driven.

Get the car ready for the salvage yard to pick it up

One of the nice things about selling your car to a salvage yard is they will come right out and quickly tow it away for you. Before they show up for the car, you are going to want to get it all cleaned out, removing all of your personal effects from it. Make sure you check under the seats, as well as in the glove compartment, the center console, in the pockets of the doors, under the seats, in the cracks of the seats, and in the entire trunk. You may be surprised at how many things can be hidden in the car, including things like your jewelry or important paperwork. Don't forget to remove your GPS and any cameras, sometimes these things are forgotten about in the midst of everything. One thing you don't need to worry about is cleaning the car when selling to a salvage yard.

Finalize the sale

When the tow truck driver arrives, they will pay you, have you sign the car over to them, and tow the vehicle off. Depending on the state you live in, you may need to report the sale to the department of motor vehicles, so be sure to do this if applicable.
